Kurt Ross

Kurt Ross (born August 30, 1915 in Rauschwitz , Glogau district , † February 18, 2007 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending school, Ross completed a craft apprenticeship and then worked as a coppersmith, plumber and heating fitter. He did Reich labor service from 1935 to 1938 , was then drafted into the Wehrmacht and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . During the war he was used in the torpedo testing facility in Eckernförde .

Ross embarked on a civil service career and had been working as a work inspector in the Oldenburg repair shop of the Deutsche Reichsbahn - or Bundesbahn . He was a union member, co-founder of the German Association of Civil Servants (DBB) in Oldenburg and a member of the works council.

Political party

Ross joined the SPD in 1946 and was elected chairman of the SPD district association in Oldenburg in 1964.

MP

Ross had been a councilor for the city of Oldenburg since 1948. He was a member of the German Bundestag from August 18, 1964, when he replaced the late MP Walter Harm , until 1965 and from September 21, 1966, when he replaced the retired MP Heinz Morgenstern , until 1972. Initially, he entered parliament via the Lower Saxony state list. From 1969 to 1972 he represented the constituency of Oldenburg in the Bundestag .

Public offices

Ross had been Senator for the city of Oldenburg since 1961 and was temporarily mayor there.
