Heinz Morgenstern

Heinz Morgenstern (born July 11, 1917 in Wolfenbüttel ; † September 3, 1980 there ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Bundestag and the Landtag of Lower Saxony .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and graduating from secondary school in Wolfenbüttel in 1937, Morgenstern signed up for the Wehrmacht . He took part in World War II as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 and was promoted to captain during the war. Most recently he was taken prisoner, from which he was released after a short time.

After his release from captivity in 1945 Morgenstern took a degree in Law and Economics at the University of Goettingen in which he both state examination and awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. Then worked as a lawyer and notary in Braunschweig .

politics

Morgenstern was a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) from 1931 to 1933 . He joined the SPD in 1945 and was co-founder of the SPD local association Fümmelse in 1946 . He also participated in the establishment of the Socialist German Student Union (SDS). Later he was chairman of the SPD district association in Braunschweig.

Morgenstern was a member of the Wolfenbüttel district council from 1956 to 1962 . In 1961 he was elected to the City Council of Wolfenbüttel. From 1959 to October 4, 1961 and 1970/71 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

In the 1961 Bundestag election , Morgenstern was elected to the German Bundestag , to which he was a member until his resignation on September 14, 1966. From 1961 to 1965 he represented the constituency of Wolfenbüttel - Goslar-Land in parliament . In 1965 he was drawn into the Bundestag via the state list of the SPD Lower Saxony . Morgenstern was State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Federal Affairs, for Expellees and Refugees from September 14, 1966 to October 1971. From November 1971 to 1977 he was a civil servant state secretary in the Federal Ministry for Internal German Relations .
