Rudolf Hauck (born April 20, 1924 in Schweinfurt , † October 17, 2003 in Berlin ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Hauck, who was a Protestant , was born the son of a worker. After graduating from elementary school in 1938, he began training as an industrial clerk, which he finished in 1941 with the assistant test. He was then drafted into the air force as an employee of the Reich and was employed in an air base command during the Second World War .

In 1946, Hauck became the full-time managing director of the Schweinfurt- Stadt district youth association . He attended the seminar for social professions in Karlsruhe since 1949 , moved to Mannheim in the same position in 1951 and completed training as a youth welfare worker, which he completed in 1951 with the state examination as a state-recognized social worker. From 1952 he worked as a district youth worker in Helmstedt . From 1956 to 1965 he was head of the Helmstedt district youth welfare office. In addition, he volunteered in several areas of social work as well as in youth, sports, cultural and adult education work. As a union member, he took on various functions in the ÖTV and the DGB . From 1954 he acted as the chairman of the staff council of the Helmstedt district administration. He was also President of the Solidarity Cycling and Motorists Association and Honorary President of the German Family Association.

Political party

Hauck joined the SPD in 1946 , was elected chairman of the SPD district association Helmstedt and was chairman of the SPD sub-district Helmstedt from 1964 to 1983. From 1974 he was chairman of the SPD district association in Braunschweig , which he handed over to Gerhard Glogowski in 1989 . In addition, he was a member of the state executive committee of the SPD Lower Saxony and was a member of the party council of the Social Democrats.

Hauck was from 1956 to 1968 council member of the city ​​of Helmstedt . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1987. From 1969 to 1983 he represented the constituency of Helmstedt - Wolfsburg in parliament . In the remaining electoral terms he was drafted into the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list. From 1969 to October 27, 1982 he was chairman and then deputy chairman of the Bundestag Committee on Youth, Family and Health.
