Kurt Vaas

Kurt Vaas (born November 14, 1929 - † February 17, 2010 ) was a German football player .

The midfielder already played in the A-Jugend for Union Böckingen . After two intermediate stops at Ulmer SC and TSG Ulm in 1846 , Kurt Vaas was active for Union Böckingen in the II Division and the 1st Amateur League Württemberg until 1954 . For the 1954/55 season Vaas moved to SSV Reutlingen 05 , which had just succeeded in returning to the Oberliga Süd . There he became runner-up with the promoters from Reutlingen and thus qualified with the SSV for the qualifying round of the final round for the German championship in 1955 . Kurt Vaas was there both in the 3-0 defeat of SSV Reutlingen against SV Sodingen in the first qualifying round and against Wormatia Worms in the 2-1 defeat of his Reutlingen team in the second qualifying round. After relegation in the following league season , Vaas rose directly back to the second division with SSV Reutlingen in 1956/57 . After Reutlingen goalkeeper Karl Bögelein was injured on December 14, 1957 on the 18th matchday of the 1957/58 league season against BC Augsburg and Horst Gernhardt conceded two goals as a substitute for Bögelein within two minutes, Kurt Vaas took over the task for the rest of the season of the goalkeeper. He did not concede a goal and saved a penalty from Helmut Haller . In 1962 Vaas ended his active career after taking part in an international tournament in New York City with SSV Reutlingen . In total, he completed 101 league games for SSV Reutlingen, in which he scored 3 goals. After his time as a player, Kurt Vaas worked for the amateur team and in the youth field as a coach for SSV Reutlingen. Vaas worked full-time as a warehouse clerk for a long time.
