The Kuznetsk Alatau ( Russian Кузне́цкий Алата́у ; Kyrgyz Alatau = "colorful mountains") is a high mountain range up to 2211.3 m high in southern Russia , Asia .
Geographical location
The mountain range, which is part of the South Siberian Mountains , gradually merges to the north into the West Siberian Plain and to the east it drops to the valley of the Yenisei with the Krasnoyarsk reservoir lying on this river . To the south it goes over the valley of the Abakan into the West Sayan and to the west it drops to the valley of the Toms . The mountain range is about 300 km long.
Highest mountain
The highest mountain of the Kuznetsk Alatau is an unnamed summit with 2211.3 m , which lies between Meschduretschensk in the west-southwest and Sorsk in the east-northeast a few kilometers northeast of the Werchni Sub, which is sometimes referred to as the highest point, belongs to the main ridge and is 2178 m high . In the area of both mountains, the Charatas rises as a tributary of the White Ijus flowing mainly to the north-northeast .
