The Kusum Kanguru (also Kusum Kangguru ) is a six-thousander in the Khumbu region in Nepal , east of Namche Bazar in the so-called Hinku Himal .

North of the 6367  m high Kusum Kanguru is the Kyashar ( 6769  m ), with which it is connected via a mountain ridge. The Mera Peak ( 6476  m ) is 8 km east-southeast on the opposite side of the Hinku Drangka river valley .

Ascent history

The Kusum Kanguru was first climbed single-handedly on October 7, 1981 by New Zealander Bill Denz via the South-west buttress . For the descent, he chose the northwest flank.

On October 9, 1979, a Japanese expedition led by Ken Kanazawa reached the lower north-east summit.

The Kusum Kanguru is listed by the Nepal Mountaineering Association in the list of category "B" climbing mountains, the so-called trekking peaks .
