The Mera Peak is a six-thousand in the Khumbu region in Nepal , east of Namche Bazar .

The north summit ( 6476  m ) forms the highest elevation of the Mera Peak. The central summit ( ) reaches a height of 6461  m , the south summit ( ) further to the east has a height of 6065  m . The Mera Glacier extends on the northern slope of the mountain . A mountain ridge leads southeast to the 6363  m high Naulekh .

On May 20, 1953, the central summit was first climbed by JOM Roberts and Sen Tenzing . The first ascent of the north summit was achieved on October 29, 1973 by Marcel Jolly , Lucien Honnilh , Gérard Bourg , Lucien Limargue and Ang Lakhpa . The ascent route led over the steep glacier slopes on the north side.

The Mera Peak is a so-called trekking peak . It is listed by the Nepal Mountaineering Association in category "B", the easier climbing peaks. The summit offers a view of five eight-thousanders : Mount Everest , Kangchenjunga , Lhotse , Makalu and Cho Oyu .
