Kuterevo is a mountain community in Lika-Senj County in Croatia . The village belongs to the large municipality of Otočac and is located 14 km southwest of it.

history

The place Kuterevo was first mentioned in 1219. In the 16th century, most of the residents emigrated as a result of the Ottoman threat. It was repopulated in 1690, mainly by settlers from Gorski Kotar and Kranj to the north and also by returnees, which is still reflected in the local dialect today.

Demographics

According to the 2001 census, the municipality has 634 inhabitants in 130 households. The Roman Catholic, Croatian population predominates.

tourism

The place is known for its wooden handicrafts , and a specific tamburitza is named after this place . The Kuterevka (Dangubica, Lička tamburica). But the barrel and chair craft is also important here.

Another is the bear sanctuary of Kuterevo (Croatian Utočište za medvjediće u Kuterevu).

Attractions

The Church of Our Lady of Carmel in Kuterevo was built in 1707.
