Kveikur ([ ˈkvɛɪ-kʏr ], Isl . For "Kerzendocht") is the seventh studio album by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós and was released on June 14, 2013. It is the first album without keyboardist Kjartan "Kjarri" Sveinsson since Von .

publication

On March 22, 2013, the music video for Brennisteinn was published on the music platforms YouTube and Vimeo . The list of tracks and album covers were also published on the official website. The EP Brennisteinn followed in April 2013 the first single Ísjaki .

Style and reception

The album is described as more aggressive than previous releases. There was an extensive turning away from the “dream pop” of earlier albums with simultaneous recording of shoegazing and post-rock borrowings, which is particularly evident in the title track Kveikur and the opening Brennisteinn .
