Valtari ([ ˈval̥tarɪ ], isl . For "roller") is the sixth regular studio album by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós and was released at the end of May 2012.

publication

In May 2009 the band announced a new studio album for 2010. However, the recordings were discarded and in the following years singer Jónsi was busy with the completion of his solo album Go and the soundtrack for the film We buy a zoo .

In March 2012 the new release date was announced and the first single Ekki Múkk was also made available as a stream on the band's website. The whole album was played on May 17, 2012 in an action called Valtari Hour on the band's homepage and on various radio stations. The fans were asked to share their impressions of the album on the internet.

Reviews

Valtari has a metascore of 74% so far , based on 26 reviews. So the album still has the rating "Generally favorable" ( generally recommended ), but it does a little worse than the band's previous albums.
