Takk ... ( Icelandic for "Thank you ...") is an album released on September 12, 2005 by the Icelandic band Sigur Rós . It is the fourth release of a full album by this band.

History of origin

The band states in various interviews that they worked on the album for a total of 20 months. The album title Takk ... is Icelandic and means "thank you". The title was chosen to thank the fans for making it possible for the band to make a living from the music by purchasing the previous albums.

Style and instrumentation

The direction that the band Sigur Rós takes on this album continues the previous works. While the songs on () were mostly recorded by the four band members alone, the Icelandic string quartet Amiina was used for Takk… . Her contribution to the songs Hoppípolla , Mílanó , Gong and Andvari is particularly noticeable . A celesta was also used for the first time for the song Sé lest . The title Sé read in this case can also be seen as a play on words, as it is pronounced in Icelandic in the same way as celesta.

Versions

The CD version is available in a limited special edition or as a normal version. Both are packed in a book-like cover with embossing, the Special Edition contains a 16-page booklet with additional artwork. In addition, a double LP version was released with a 10 " recorded on one side .

Single releases

  • Glósóli
