KwaDukuza ( English The KwaDukuza Local Municipality ) is a municipality in the iLembe District , KwaZulu-Natal Province in South Africa . The seat of the municipal administration is KwaDukuza . Ricardo Mthembu is the mayor. The ANC has the majority in the local council.
The municipality is named after the town of the same name (former name Stanger), which is seven kilometers from the coast. It was built in 1872 on the site where King Shaka was murdered in 1828. In 2011 the population was 231,187 on a total area of 735 square kilometers.

In 2011 the community had 231,187 inhabitants. 78.8% of these were black, 14.1% Indian or Asian , 5.6% white and 1% colored .
The first language was 65.8% isiZulu , 20.7% English, 6.9% isiXhosa , 1.5% Afrikaans and a non-official language in South Africa, 0.9% isiNdebele and 0.7% Xitsonga .
