Kwasi Owusu (born November 7, 1945 - March 30, 2020 in Sunyani ) was a Ghanaian football player .

Career

Owusu started playing soccer at the Yara Stars in Kintampo . In 1965 he was committed by Bofoakwa Tano , an association from Sunyani . In 1966, Kwasi "Powerhouse" Owusu was appointed to the senior national team of Ghana for the first time , with which he finished second at the 1970 African Cup . In 1972 the 1.70 m tall and 87 kg heavy attacker was used in two games at the Olympic football tournament in Munich . Between 1973 and his last appearance in the national team in 1976 Owusu was the captain of the "Black Stars".

In June 2013, the journalist Thomas Freeman Yeboah published the results of his research, according to which Kwasi Owusu is together with Edward Acquah (1935-2011) the record scorer of the Ghanaian national team. Between 1969 and 1976 Owusu scored a total of 40 goals for the "Black Stars" in at least 23 games. In 1969 he scored five and four goals respectively in the 6-0 and 9-1 victories over Niger's national team .
