The Kyeema Spirit is an oil tanker of the shipping company TeeKay Shipping from the United Kingdom and drives under Bahamian flag. The ship was built in 1999 by Samsung Heavy Industries at their shipyard in Geoje , South Korea , and put into service on June 7, 1999. Its sister ships are Kiowa Spirit and Koa Spirit .

Location of the accident​

On Monday morning, September 24, 2012 at 6.55 a.m. local time, the unloaded tanker sailing from the US port city of Philadelphia to the port of Muuga ran aground in poor weather conditions in roadsteads east of the Baltic island of Aegna , near the Estonian capital Tallinn , after the Anchor had been raised to change position. On September 25, 2012 at 1:38 p.m. local time, the Kyeema Spirit was pulled from the shoal with tugs and brought to the anchorage. The damaged four tanks and the pump room were repaired at the shipyard in Naantali near Turku (Åbo), where the tanker was brought with two Finnish tugs Kraft and Hector .
