Cyrus Vassaras

Kyros Vassaras ( Greek Κύρος Βασάρας , born February 1, 1966 ) is a former Greek football referee .

Life

Vassaras since 1998. FIFA - referee . His first game he started in 1999 in the match between Austria and San Marino . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , he directed the men's final between Argentina and Paraguay. In December 2007 he was nominated as one of 12 referees for the 2008 European Football Championship .

The first game under his direction was the Group A match between the Czech Republic and Portugal (1: 3) on June 11, 2008 in Geneva . On June 16, 2008, he was in charge of the Group B game between Poland and Croatia (0-1) in Klagenfurt . In these games he was supported by his assistants Dimitris Bozatzidis and Dimitris Saraidaris.

Kyros Vassaras announced his resignation as a referee in Greece on April 21, 2009 due to a serious sports injury.
