In Group B of the European Football Championship in 2008 , Croatia prevailed with a 2-1 win against Germany. The Germans were only able to qualify for the quarter-finals in the third group game with an unconvincing win against the Austrians. The hosts Austria, who remained without a goal except for one penalty, and the Polish team ended up in third and fourth place.
