Joachim Standfest began his professional football career after a year at SV Rottenmann in 1998 at Grazer AK . With the Grazers he won the Austrian championship in 2004, the ÖFB Cup in 2000, 2002 and 2004 , and the Supercup in 2000 and 2002 . In 2003 and 2005 he was runner- up with the red jackets . Standfest achieved its greatest international success in qualifying for the 2004 UEFA Champions League at Anfield Road , when they won the away game against Liverpool 1-0.

In January 2007, the Upper Styrian moved to FK Austria Wien , where he won the ÖFB Cup for the fourth time in his first year. After he was no longer happy after two years at Wiener Austria, his family still lived in Graz, Standfest moved back to his home country SK Sturm Graz on June 7, 2010 after a long tug-of-war , where he became Austrian champion for the second time . From summer 2012 to summer 2013 he was under contract with the Bundesliga relegated Kapfenberger SV . From August 28, 2013 he will play for Wolfsberger AC .
