Just one season later, in 2014 they had to relegate from the fifth-class regional league to the sixth-class district league. In 2016 Lichtenberger rose again with his club in the state league.

He made his debut in the second-highest division in July 2018 when he was in the starting line-up on the first match day of the 2018/19 season against SV Ried - as in his regional league debut - and was replaced by Patrick Bilic in the 82nd minute. For the 2019/20 season he switched to league rivals SV Lafnitz . For the Styrians he came to 27 second division appearances in that season, in which he scored eight goals.
