Rafał Murawski (born October 9, 1981 in Malbork , Poland ) is a former Polish football player .
Club career
Murawski began his professional career in 2000 with Arka Gdynia in the third Polish division. In 2002 he rose to the second division with Arka Gdynia and played four seasons in the second division. In 2004 he was signed by the first division club Amica Wronki . Here he immediately fought for a regular place. In 2006 he then moved to Lech Posen , where he made the final breakthrough and was always one of the best midfielders in the Ekstraklasa . On June 28, 2009 , he signed a three-year contract with Russian champions Rubin Kazan . In his first season he became Russian champion with Rubin. Murawski returned to Poznan for the 2010/11 winter break. In the following three years he completed 79 league games for Lech Posen and scored seven goals. In the 2013/14 season he then lost his regular place and sometimes only played for the reserve team. At the end of February 2014, he signed a 2.5-year contract with league competitor Pogoń Stettin , where he will play with the number 6.
National team
Rafał Murawski made his debut in the Polish national team on November 15, 2006 in the European Championship qualifier against Belgium (1-0 win for Poland ). So far, he has played 46 international matches and scored one goal (in a 2-2 win against Serbia ). Quite surprisingly, he was nominated by the Polish national coach Leo Beenhakker for the European Championship 2008 in Austria and Switzerland, where he played two games for Poland. Murawski was also in the squad for the 2012 European Championship in Poland and Ukraine four years later . There he came to three missions.
