Danijel Pranjić [ ˈdaniɛl ˈpraɲitɕ ] (born December 2, 1981 in Našice ) is a Croatian football player .

Career

Arising from the youth of NK NASK Našice , the football club of his birthplace, Pranjić played for them in league games until 2000. Then he was a season for NK Papuk Orahovica and the second division NK Belišće active before moving to the first division NK Osijek in 2002 . After only one season for the traditional club Dinamo Zagreb , Pranjić moved to the Netherlands for the first division club SC Heerenveen . In four seasons, the midfielder scored 32 goals, 16 in the 2008/09 season alone , at the end of which he won the Dutch club cup.

In order to be able to play for FC Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga in the 2009/10 season , he himself contributed around 700,000 euros to the fixed transfer fee of 7.7 million euros. On August 8, 2009 (1st matchday) in the 1-1 draw at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim , he was in the starting line-up and made his debut in the top German division. He played the first competitive game for the record champions on August 2 in the first round of the DFB Cup at SpVgg Neckarelz . He scored his first and only Bundesliga goal on December 12, 2009 (16th matchday) in a 5-1 win in Bochum . The contract, which expired in 2012, was not extended.

After three seasons he left Bayern Munich for Portugal and signed a contract with the first division club Sporting Lisbon on July 13, 2015, dated June 30, 2015. For this he made his league debut on September 16, 2012 (3rd matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against CS Maritimo .

In January 2013 it was then awarded to the Spanish first division club Celta Vigo until the end of the 2012/13 season , who also secured a purchase option.

On August 30, 2013, it was announced that Pranjić and Sporting Lisbon, by mutual agreement, terminated the contract that ran until June 30, 2015.

For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Greek first division club Panathinaikos Athens , for whom he made his debut on September 15, 2013 (4th matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against Platanias Chanion up to the 85th minute. On December 8, 2013 (14th matchday) he scored his first two league goals in a 4-0 win in the away game against AEL Kalloni .

In September 2016 - during the current 2016/17 season - the Slovenian first division club FC Koper signed him . He made his debut on September 21, 2016 (10th matchday) in a 2-1 defeat at home to NK Maribor , and scored his first league goal on March 11, 2017 (24th matchday) in a 4-1 win at home against NK Radomlje with the goal to make it 1-0 in the seventh minute.

Since the 2017/18 season he has been playing in Cyprus for the first division club Anorthosis Famagusta . He made his debut on August 20, 2017 (1st matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against local rivals Nea Salamis Famagusta . For the 2019/20 season he moved to the second division AO Agia Napo from the town of the same name .

National team

On September 6, 2002 Pranjić made his debut in the national jersey: In the qualifying game for the U-21 European Championship 2004 in Vinkovci , he was in the starting line-up, which won 3-1 against the Estonian team. This was followed by five more appearances in the qualification, two in the playoffs against the selection of Scotland and two during the U-21 European Championship 2004 in Germany . His only goal in this national team he scored with the half-time score to 1-0 on August 19, 2003 in London, in the 3-0 victory over England .

Pranjić made his debut in the senior national team of his country on November 16, 2004 in an international test match , which was lost 1-0 to Ireland in Dublin . In 2006 he was used in the qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup and took part with the national team at both the tournament in Germany and the tournament, the 2008 European Championship , in Austria and Switzerland .

On August 12, 2011 national coach Slaven Bilić announced that Pranjić would never play again under him. Pranjić had publicly criticized the sports management of the national team. After the game against Ireland, Pranjić had made improper comments about his role on the team. Pranjić nonetheless returned to the national team.

In 2012 Pranjić came in the first game under the new national coach Igor Štimac against the selection of Switzerland used, but Štimac saw from further nominations. Instead, Štimac nominated Manuel Pamić in the following games , as he had more match practice than Pranjić. Pranjić scored his first international goal on March 28, 2015 in Zagreb in a 5-1 win in the European Championship qualifier against Norway's selection with the goal of the final score in the 90th minute.
