László Dés
László Dés [ ˈlaːsloː ˈdeːʃ ] (born January 9, 1954 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian jazz saxophonist and composer.
Life
Dés attended the Zoltán Kodály Music School from 1960 to 1968 . From 1963 to 1971 he completed piano training. He then studied clarinet at the Béla Bartók Conservatory until 1973 , and finally jazz and saxophone at the Budapest Music Academy until 1976 .
In 1970 he founded the group Dimenzió , with whom he released three albums. With Ferenc Snétberger and Kornél Horváth he founded the Trio Stendhal , with which he performed in Europe and also in India. From 1998 to 2000 he led the band Jazz + Az . Since 2003 he has performed with the Dés László Septet , which includes Dés, the trumpeter Kornél Fekete-Kovács , the guitarist Gábor Juhász , the keyboardist József Balázs , the double bassist Péter Glaser , the percussionist András Dés and the drummer Elemér Balázs . In 2005 they released the album Street Music.
In addition, he composed music for more than twenty films. To a text by István Nemes originated operetta Valahol Európában (Somewhere in Europe) . With the writer Pál Békés he wrote a musical based on the jungle book .
