Kornél Horváth

Kornél Horváth (born September 27, 1954 in Lövő ) is a Hungarian jazz percussionist.

Horváth became known as a flute player in the 1970s. He then began his career as a percussionist. In 1990 he took part in the Philadelphia Percussion Festival at the invitation of the Association of American Percussionists . He became known for his complex and virtuoso playing technique. In addition to classical, he has also mastered exotic percussion instruments such as gatham , gato , chekere and udu .

He worked with musicians such as David Friedman , Anthony Jackson , Tommy Campbell , Randy Brecker and Béla Szakcsi Lakatos . Among other things, he belonged to the Black Sea Trio (with Enver Ismailov and Anatoly Vapirov ), the Mirrorworld Quartet (with Zoltán Lantos , Mihály Borbély and Gábor Juhász ), the Percussion Project (with Carlo Rizzo and Stoyan Yankoulov ) and the String Project (with Zoltán Lantos, Ateshghan Yuseinov and Wladimir Wolkow ) and was a founding member of the Trio Stendhal (with Ferenc Snétberger and László Dés ). In 1992 his solo album Rag Handed was released .
