Gábor Juhász

Gábor Juhász (born February 16, 1968 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian jazz guitarist .

Live and act

Juhász studied jazz guitar from 1988 to 1992 at the Béla Bartók Conservatory in Budapest with Gyula Babos . After that he taught jazz guitar with interruptions at the Ferenc Erkel Music School and from 2003 at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy .

With József Barcza Horváth , Kornél Fekete-Kovács and Károly Binder , whom he knew from his studies at the conservatory, he founded his first band, Pangea . This group also worked with international soloists such as B. Theo Jörgensmann or Federico Sanesi . He co-founded the Tin-Tin Quartet (after the addition of Gergő Borlai and Iván Nyusztay Tin-Tin Quintet ) with the Gadulka player Szabolcs Szoke , who also played for Pangea at times , the tabla player Péter Szalai and the Kaval player András Monori which he gave concerts in Hungary and abroad.

In the late 1990s he recorded an album with Márta Téli and Gábor Winand , among others, and in 2002 became a member of Zoltán Lantos ' Mirrorworld Quartet alongside Mihály Dresch and Kornél Horváth . In that year he also received the Hungarian Jazz Prize from Gramofon magazine . He has been a member of László Dés Septet since 2004 , and he also works with the Off Course group and Elemér Balázs' band, among others . In 2004 he released the album 60/40 with Palle Mikkelborg .
