Elemér Balázs

Elemér Balázs (* 1967 ) is a Hungarian jazz drummer .

Balázs studied jazz at the Béla Bartók Conservatory with Gyula Kovács . He first worked with the No Spa Quintet as well as Béla Szakcsi Lakatos , Gyula Babos and Aladár Pege and was a founding member of György Vukán's Creative Art Ensemble Trio . In the 1990s he led his own trio or quintet, with which he recorded three albums; he also belonged with Kálmán Oláh and János Egri to the Trio Midnight , which also recorded albums with Lee Konitz and Steve Houben . Since 2000 he has headed the Elemér Balázs Group , with which several albums have also been created. He also worked with musicians such as Tony Scott , Annette Lowman , Ferenc Snétberger , Wayne Brasel , James Williams , Tony Lakatos , Art Farmer , Stjepko Gut , Zbigniew Namysłowski , Jukka Perko , Paolo Fresu , Stéphane Belmondo , Pat Metheny and Al Jarreau .
