Léon Couliboeuf (* in La Rochelle ; † 2013 in Bouteville ) was a French racing car driver and industrialist.

Career in motorsport

Couliboeuf did not operate motorsport as a main job, but as a man's driver . His first assignment was in the Tour de France for automobiles in 1954 . In the stage race leading across France, he also dropped out of a Ferrari 500 Mondial prematurely. He finished the tour in 1956 in tenth place overall.

1957 he played together with compatriot José Behra , the 24-hour race at Le Mans . The Maserati 200SI used was in his possession. A leak in the tank prevented a finish. The duo also dropped out at the 1000 km race in Kristianstad .

His last assignment was in the Tour de France for automobiles in 1960 . This time he finished the stage race in 19th place overall.

Entrepreneur

Couliboeuf trained as an electrician . A special French patent on concrete masts , which can be used in many ways as overhead line masts , gave him wealth and financial independence.
