Lübeck Council 1708
The Lübeck council was completely understaffed at the beginning of 1708. Even before the death of mayor Anton Winckler († 1707) one of the four mayors of Lübeck was missing . The vacant councilorships had not been filled since the last by-election in 1703. Only after lengthy debates between the citizenry and the council did by-elections take place on February 20, with which the council was again completed in accordance with the provisions of the citizens' recession. Two mayors and seven new councilors were elected. On April 30, 1708 another by-election of two councilors was held because councilor Joachim von Dale resigned and Mr. Andreas Albrecht von Brömbsen refused to accept the (first) election.
