Lübeck Council 1738
The council of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck in 1738. In 1738 the Lübeck council was understaffed. Despite the replacement of three councilors, four remained vacant, although there were no departures in 1738. In the following year 1739, the citizens of the city forced the council to elect the number of councilors constitutionally prescribed since the citizens' recession of 1669, after the council itself had failed to do so for a longer period of time.
