Lewis Minor "Kit" Carson (born August 12, 1941 in Irving ( Texas ), † October 20, 2014 in Dallas ) was an American actor , screenwriter and producer .

Life

Carson's debut in the film business was the title role in the 1967 mockumentary David Holzman's Diary . The film was inducted into the National Film Registry in 1991. Carson wrote the script for Breathless with Richard Gere and Valérie Kaprisky with the film's director, Jim McBride . The film Paris, Texas , for which he wrote the script with Sam Shepard, was a great success .

Carson was married to actress Karen Black from 1975 to 1983 . Their son is Hunter Carson , who made his acting debut in Paris, Texas .

Awards

Carson won a CableACE Award in 1988 for his script for an episode of The Hitchhiker . In 1999 he won the Pioneer Filmmaker Award at the Deep Ellum Film Festival in Dallas.
