Los Angeles Film Critics Association
The Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) was founded in 1975. Her main job is to present the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards annually to members of the (local) film industry who have done an excellent job in their profession. The prizes are awarded in January each year. Since the LAFCA Awards represent the first award event every year, together with the Golden Globe Awards , they are an important guide for the Academy Awards , which are usually awarded at the end of February or beginning of March.
Ruth Batchelor , who was a journalist for the LA Free Press and a correspondent for KTTV-TV , made a major contribution to founding the LAFCA . Her driving force became the first choice for the LAFCA Awards on February 13, 1976 at the Cock 'n' Bull Restaurant . This year there was no official award ceremony, it was only held from the following year.
Today's LAFCA President is Henry Sheehan , Vice President is Lael Loewenstein .
Two special awards each year honor film veterans ( Career Achievement Award ) and the new generation ( New Generation Award ).
The award ceremony takes place every January. As with the Academy Awards , achievements from the previous year are honored.

Most successful films at the LAFCA Awards
The films that have won the most LAFCA awards in the respective years are listed here. Only four times (1977, 1993, 2005 and 2006) did it happen that the film with the most awards could not also win the prize for Best Picture . The film Sideways can be regarded as the most successful film in the history of the LAFCA , as it not only won five awards, like some other films, but also took second place in the Best Actor category .
