The V 10 C is a narrow-gauge diesel locomotive for utility and connecting railways. The locomotive was built from 1959 to 1975 in a series of 496 by VEB Lokomotivbau Karl Marx Babelsberg (LKM) for gauges from 600 to 1067 mm.
history
The previous Ns 4 c series, built from around 1957, already had the housing shape of the V 10 C. Since LKM wanted to standardize the assemblies with the standard-gauge V 10 B , the interior of the Ns 4 c was revised and the V 10 C was created As a rule, the locomotives had an air-cooled 6-cylinder diesel engine (6 KVD 14.5 SRL, later 6 VD 14.5 / 12 SRL), on request and in the export version, a water-cooled engine (6 KVD 14.5 SRW). Depending on the gauge, the locomotive has an external (600–762 mm) or internal frame (900–1067 mm). As a rule, a throw lever brake was used for braking, but a compressed air brake could be installed on request, which either only worked for the locomotive or as a continuous train brake. The upper (with window) and the lower part of the driver's cab door could be folded away individually. In the tropical version, the upper part of the driver's cab was open at the side.
