The LOCON Logistik & Consulting AG is a railway company (TOC) in Germany with headquarters in Berlin . The company was founded in 2002 and now operates throughout Germany in rail transport. In May 2019, EP Logistics International announced the acquisition of Locon.

history

In its logistics division, LOCON AG is primarily active in rail construction site logistics.

In addition, the freight transport and consulting divisions were added later. The latter advises, supervises and trains other companies in the field of rail freight transport and, on request, provides them with a railway operations manager (Ebl) to operate rail vehicles.

LOCON continues to operate a branch at the former company headquarters in Seehausen , in addition to which a subsidiary was founded in 2010, which operates in Belgium , the Netherlands and Luxembourg . Branches in Göppingen and Hanover were in the meantime, but were closed again. In April 2011, LOCON Benelux BV was founded, which mainly operates in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. In July 2017, the company was declared bankrupt by the Zwolle District Court .

In Pinnow , LOCON operates the connecting railway of the industrial and commercial area Pinnow, starting from the Angermünde – Schwedt line, on behalf of the Oder-Welse office . This connecting route has a loading street with a head and side ramp and adjacent storage areas. A small container terminal is also operated.

In March 2012, a service center for the maintenance and repair of LOCON's own diesel locomotives was put into operation in Pinnow. The investment volume was 3.4 million euros. The two-track hall has a 10-tonne crane, a weighbridge , a measuring track and a work pit for carrying out work on the underbody of the rail vehicles. Another subsidiary, LOCON Service GmbH, was founded for operation; Third-party companies also have the option of repairing and maintaining the inventory.

In July 2013, the subsidiary LOCON Personalservice GmbH was founded, which makes train drivers available to other railway companies .

LOCON is a member of the Association of German Transport Companies and the Association of German Railway Engineers . In May 2019 the Czech EP Logistics International announced the 100% takeover of Locon.

Vehicle fleet

Locomotive series 189 of the MRCE rented from LOCON

LOCON AG employs over 150 people (as of June 2012) and has 29 own diesel locomotives of the types V180 , V100 ( West and East ), V60 and V22 from the stocks of the former Federal Railroad and the former Deutsche Reichsbahn ; it also owns more than 250 freight cars. The company's own diesel locomotives are mainly required in the field of track construction logistics. In addition, several rented vehicles are used to handle the freight traffic, in particular electric locomotives from Siemens from the Dispolok pool.

However, since 2012 LOCON's own fleet has included two Siemens EuroSprinter locomotives and a Voith Maxima since 2009 , the latter being a long-distance diesel locomotive not tied to electricity systems and therefore operating in cross-border traffic. In 2013, LOCON announced that it had signed a leasing contract with Alpha Trains for two MaK G 1206 and Bombardier Traxx locomotives .

The subsidiary LOCON Benelux owned four electric locomotives of the NS series 1600 in 2012 . By the beginning of 2016, the number of these locomotives had increased to eight. In July 2017, Locon BeNeLux was declared insolvent by the district court of Zwolle following an application by the shareholders.

The company's own vehicles have a striking orange paintwork with white stripes, although some locomotives have been given a black paintwork with orange lettering.
