The woman and the express train (original title: La Femme et le TGV ) is a Swiss short film with Jane Birkin in the leading role. Timo von Gunten wrote the script and directed. The film was produced by Giacun Gaduff . The film premiered on August 5, 2016 at the Locarno International Film Festival .

Elise Lafontaine has been waving to the TGV that passes her house every morning and evening for years . One day she finds a letter from the train driver in her garden. Over time, a touching correspondence develops between her and the train driver. The poetic conversation comes to an end when the TGV no longer drives past your house because it has been permanently diverted to a shorter route. She takes all her courage and decides to meet the driver personally.
