La Futura is the 15th studio album by American blues rock - band ZZ Top . It was recorded on Foambox Recordings in Houston , Texas and was released on September 11, 2012.
Emergence
After the previous album Mescalero was released in 2003, ZZ Top spent the following years touring and performing live. Around 2009 the band started writing new songs. The impetus for the album came from producer Rick Rubin , who approached ZZ Top and offered them to produce a studio album with them.
The first track of the album I Gotsta Get Paid is inspired by the rap song 25 Lighters , released in 1996 . Chartreuse shows ZZ Top's roots in blues rock during the times of Rio Grande Mud , Have a Little Mercy came about by chance when Dusty Hill and Frank Beard were jamming. ZZ Top made the song Flyin 'High available to the astronaut Mike Fossum, who is known for Dusty Hill . After approval by NASA, he was allowed to take a rough mix of the song on his iPod to the ISS Expedition 28 . It's Too Easy Mañana was written by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings .
Four tracks on the album ( I gotsta Get Paid , Chartreuse , Consumption and Over You ) were as Download - EP Texicali published in June 2012 in advance.
