The pool is a left tributary of the Scherkonde in the Weimarer Land district in the Free State of Thuringia .

course

The stream rises not far from the Buchenwald concentration camp memorial in the middle of the Ettersberg . It is the first village to reach Ettersburg and is piped after flowing through the municipality. The pool now flows underground towards Ramsla . Here its course leads past a former mill, behind which it takes up the Synderbach . Now the brook reaches Schwerstedt and crosses the district from south to north. After leaving the former castle and the state vocational school Schwerstedt behind, it is dammed up to the Schwerstedt warehouse . As soon as it leaves the storage basin, it changes its north-east flow direction to east. Then it picks up the water from the lime spring near Krautheim and flows through the town. A little more than 500 m east of Krautheim, the pool flows into the Lossa tributary Scherkonde.

Water quality and structure

The lower course of the pool is classified as critically polluted , water quality class II-III. Most of the pollution comes from wastewater discharged from the neighboring areas. Due to the straightening and canalization, the stream is predominantly to be regarded as monotonous.
