Ladislav Kubeš
Ladislav Kubeš senior (born February 23, 1924 in Borkovice , South Bohemia ; † August 28, 1998 in Žíšov ) was a Czech composer , arranger and musician.
Life
Ladislav Kubeš was taught to play the tenor horn , trombone and tuba by his father Matěj Kubeš - himself a flugelhorn player and bandmaster . Kubeš studied trombone at the Prague Conservatory and then played in various orchestras, such as the theater orchestra in České Budějovice (Budweis) or the spa orchestra in Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad). In 1952 he took over the leadership of the Veselka brass band from his father.
His first compositions were composed during his military service with the military band in Jindřichův Hradec (Neuhaus) under the direction of the conductor and composer Ferdinand Škrobák , where he wrote the Jihočeská polka (South Bohemian polka). Ladislav Kubeš Sr. wrote and edited over 400 compositions. Many of the texts for his compositions came from the Skovajsovy sisters.
Kubeš received great international and social recognition in 1975 when he and his Blaťácká dechovka (Blata brass band) received a reception from the Austrian President Rudolf Kirchschläger . In 1981 Kubeš handed over the leadership of the Veselka brass band to his son Ladislav Kubeš junior .
