Laetitia Fech

Laetitia Fech OCist (born May 21, 1957 in Munich ) has been the abbess of the Waldsassen monastery since 1995 .

Life

Born Agathe Fech, she entered the Cistercian Abbey of Lichtenthal in 1979 , where she took the religious name Laetitia. Fech made his profession on March 25, 1980. She worked as a master in parament embroidery .

She has lived in the Waldsassen monastery since 1994 , where she was elected abbess on August 26, 1995. October 3, 1995 she received by the then bishop of Regensburg , Manfred Müller , the benediction , commonly known as "Äbtissinnenweihe". Abbot General Maurus Esteva Alsina also attended the ceremonyat. Her motto is: "Those who trust in the Lord draw new strength." (Isaiah 40:31) She was awarded the Medal for the Preservation of Monuments because she had succeeded in repairing the functionality of the monastery, school and generally accessible areas, taking into account the preservation of monuments to obtain. A special achievement is the establishment of the meeting place Haus St. Josef in the unfinished Westhof with its late medieval elements. In 2010 the Via Porta pilgrimage route was inaugurated and is maintained by the Volkenroda monastery and the Waldsassen monastery.
