Lajos Pápai Bishop

Lajos Pápai (born September 6, 1940 in Győr ) is a Hungarian Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Győr .

Life

Lajos Pápai was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Győr on June 13, 1963 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Győr on March 18, 1991. The Archbishop of Esztergom and Primate of Hungary, Cardinal László Paskai , donated him episcopal ordination on April 27 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were his predecessor, Bishop Kornél Pataky , and Bishop József Szendi von Veszprém .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 17, 2016.
