Lancelin is a small fishing village in Western Australia , with about 700 inhabitants (2016), which once lived mainly from the crab and lobster fishing. Today tourism is one of the most important industries. Due to the relative proximity to Perth (about 110 km north of the city) there are now numerous weekend houses that are mostly only inhabited during the holidays. The number of inhabitants increases to around 2,500 during the Christmas holidays.
