Lancelin

Lancelin is a small fishing village in Western Australia , with about 700 inhabitants (2016), which once lived mainly from the crab and lobster fishing. Today tourism is one of the most important industries. Due to the relative proximity to Perth (about 110 km north of the city) there are now numerous weekend houses that are mostly only inhabited during the holidays. The number of inhabitants increases to around 2,500 during the Christmas holidays.

Attractions

The beach on the Pacific Ocean is ideal for swimming and fishing. There is also an 18-hole golf course in the area. At the end of the main street in Lancelin is "The Big Dune", a large sand dune that can be driven on by four-wheel drive vehicles. From here, through the sand dune field, it takes about three hours to get to the Nambung National Park , about 65 kilometers to the north .
