The Villach Regional Hospital (LKH Villach) is a hospital in the Carinthian town of Villach . It has 730 beds, around 260,000 patients are treated annually, 32,000 of them inpatients and 228,000 outpatients. 11 departments and 4 institutes are located in the Villach Regional Hospital.
The Villach Regional Hospital works with the School for Health and Nursing, which is also located in Villach.
history
In 1869, Anna Greibl donated her house to the city of Villach and thus laid the foundation stone for the Villach State Hospital. In 1883 the local council decided to build a public hospital. Construction began in 1889, and on October 4, 1891, what was then the General Public Hospital Kaiser Franz Joseph was opened. In 1905 the hospital was expanded by 100 beds and a larger, more modern operating theater was built. In 1917 the hospital and the infirmary had to be temporarily closed due to a lack of coal. In 1920 the hospital was handed over to the state of Carinthia by the city of Villach . After the hospital was badly damaged by 68 aircraft bombs, it was rebuilt in 1946. In 1951 the surgical and obstetrical department and the children's department were opened. In 1961 the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent von Paul left the LKH Villach.
In 1975 it was decided to expand the LKH Villach by 3 construction stages and to adapt the old stock to the new requirements. The first construction phase was completed in 1984, the second in 1990 and the third in 1997. In 1997, the helicopter landing pad on the roof of the Villach Regional Hospital and the newly designed hospital chapel were also opened.
Restructuring
In 2015, the restructuring of construction stage 1 began. In 2016, the neonatology and the children's intensive care unit were completed and put into operation. The endoscopy conversion was completed in November 2017 . The entire renovation should be completed by the end of 2020.
