The Landhaus St. Pölten is a building complex in the government district of St. Pölten and the seat of the Lower Austrian provincial administration, the Lower Austrian provincial parliament , the provincial government and the office of the Lower Austrian provincial government . This also includes cultural institutions operated by the state of Lower Austria. With between 2,500 and 3,000 employees, it is one of the largest workplaces in St. Pölten.

history

Since the separation of Vienna from Lower Austria in 1922, the Niederösterreichisches Landhaus in Vienna - today Palais Niederösterreich - was the seat of the Lower Austrian state parliament until 1997, when the state government relocated to the new state capital St. Pölten.

The state parliament building stands on the banks of the Traisen. According to its shape, it is called the ship. In addition to the country house with the 80 m high sound tower by the architect Ernst Hoffmann , the festival hall ( Klaus Kada ), the state archive and the state library ( Paul Katzberger ), an exhibition hall (Shed-Halle, Hans Hollein ) and the state museum were also built in the Landhausviertel .

Building history

The Julius-Raab-Traisenbrücke was built before construction began; after the building permit was issued (reference number 11/60/1 / -1166-1992) in 1992, construction began on November 1st. The major construction site extended over 216,929 m² on the area of ​​the former racing stadium in St. Pölten (1881–1990), between the Traisen and the old town. To protect against the floods of the Traisen, a 600 m long and 200 m wide concrete tub was built in which the country house complex is located. 1000 employees turned over 3 million schillings daily on the construction site , the total investment amounted to 5.3 billion schillings. 10 construction companies built 19,000 tons of steel and 223,000 m³ of concrete. There were three accidents on the construction site, with one fatality.
