Paul Katzberger (born October 11, 1921 in Rodaun ; † November 1, 2014 in Perchtoldsdorf ) was an Austrian architect . He was mayor of Perchtoldsdorf.

Life

Paul Katzberger was born as the son of Paul Katzberger (1891-1948), master builder and mayor of Rodaun. After primary school, he attended the secondary school of the school brothers on the Rosenhügel . In 1939, he graduated from the state trade school in Mödling in the building construction department. When he was released from American captivity in 1946, he began studying architecture at the Vienna University of Technology , which he finished in 1951. His professors included Erich Boltenstern , Karl Holey , Lehmann, Max Theuer and Ginhardt.

After the death of his father he worked as an independent master builder in Vienna (especially in Rodaun and the surrounding area). From 1957 to 1990 he worked as a civil engineer with the authority of an architect.

Between 1971 and 1984 he taught as a professor at the HTL Mödling in building construction technical subjects. After serving for several years as a councilor (1959–1960), managing councilor for construction (1960–1970), cultural advisor (1970–81) and vice mayor (1965–1981), he was elected mayor in 1981 and held this office until 1992 .

During his time as a construction consultant, Paul Katzberger worked to ensure that Perchtoldsdorf remained a place with a traditionally bourgeois town center and the character of a small wine tavern by making a significant contribution to the adoption of a land use plan that is unique in Lower Austria . “ In this plan, the protection of the unique character of Perchtoldsdorf as a place with a recreational character, the anchoring of a viticulture protection area, and the creation of a separate industrial area were taken into account and thus a suitable substance-preserving development was ensured in good time.
