life and career
Landri came from a noble family from Vaud, who had their ancestral home in Mont-le-Grand . His father Louis is considered to be the founder of the Oujon Charterhouse in Arzier . Landri was elected Bishop of Sion in 1205 or 1206 . In 1217 he issued the first Sion town charter, took part in the 4th Lateran Council in 1215 and convened a diocesan synod in 1219. Landri had La Soie Castle built in Savièse in 1219 and La Bâtiaz Castle in Martigny in 1232 . With the Abbey of Saint-Maurice he reached an agreement in 1215 on jurisdiction in several municipalities in Vaud . In 1224 and 1233 the bishop had to recognize Savoy's primacy in the Lower Valais in treaties . In 1236 he asked Pope Gregory IX. for reasons of age to be relieved of his official duties, but no successor was elected until his death.
