Lane Schäfer (born 1982 ) is a German costume designer .

life and work

Schäfer studied costume design with Reinhard von der Thannen at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and with Florence von Gerkan at the Berlin University of the Arts . After assisting at the Grips-Theater in Berlin, at the Volksbühne Berlin , the Oper Kassel and at the Burgtheater , she worked with Johannes Schütz and started her own work: At the Staatstheater Kassel she designed the costumes for the play Sex by Justine del Corte , staged by Schütz and the author, and at the Mainz State Theater for Mozart's Così fan tutte .

The work for the adaptations of the novel by Lems Solaris and Serner's Die Tigerin took her to the Burgtheater in Vienna , where Alexander Wiegold and Sarantos Zervoulakos staged it . At the Burgtheater, Schäfer also worked several times with Roland Schimmelpfennig : 2012 for Das Fliegende Kind and Justine del Cortes Der Komet , 2015 for Das Reich der Tiere . At the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg she took on the costume design for Schimmelpfennig's production SPAM , at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe for Three Sisters , and at the Staatstheater Braunschweig for Anna Bergmann's productions Faithless and Homo Faber . Under the direction of Corinna Harfouch , she was the costume designer for the piece 13313 , which was performed at the Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin and at the Ruhr Festival in 2014. Schäfer was also responsible for the costume design of Tom Lanoye's Mamma Medea (2013/14) and for Joseph Roth's Radetzkymarsch (2014/15) at the Lower Austria State Theater , as well as for Schiller's Kabale und Liebe at the Salzburg State Theater .

She also designs costumes for short films and music videos, among others. a. for the band Käptn Peng & Die Tentakel von Delphi .
