Reinhard von der Thannen (* 1957 in Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian stage and costume designer and theater director .

Life

Von der Thannen comes from an old Vorarlberg family. He studied with Erich Wonder in Vienna . During his studies he already worked at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg , at the opera houses in Frankfurt and Cologne and at the Residenztheater in Munich with his first own works.

From 1987 to 1992 he worked at the Freie Volksbühne Berlin (director: Hans Neuenfels ). Since 2006, as the successor to Dirk von Bodisco , he has been Professor of Costume Design at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences . He has been married to Birgit von der Thannen since 1986, with whom he also works as a director and dramaturge.
