Location of Langenau in Saxony

Langenau is a settlement in the central Saxon hill country, which extends from the federal highway 176 long into the valley of the Auenbach. In ancient times it was therefore written Langenowe and Langenaue.

history

There is no written evidence of the origin of the place. The German place name and the Waldhufenflur suggest that Langenau was founded in the 12th century as part of the German eastward settlement . The first mention was made in 1245, when Emperor Frederick II. The Klosterbuch possession of Langenowe, Gerhardesdorf & Kiselbach confirmed the Heinricus de Poleche had abandoned. Obviously, the acquisition of Langenau did not come into effect because it will not occur again in connection with the Buch monastery. Its eventful history is closely linked to that of Schönerstadt . Both places belong to the parish of Schönerstädt. As monastery villages, they belonged to the Geringswalde monastery since 1271 .

Langenau has been part of the small Saxon town of Hartha since 2004 .
