Long product
Long products or long products are metal semi-finished products and alloys obtained by rolling , drawing or forging with a constant in the length of cross-section are produced and not to the flat products include, as their length is much greater than its thickness and width.
According to DIN EN 10079 , the main generic terms long and flat products or products are intended for steel products.
A distinction is made between the following long products:
- Long products wound in bundles such as drawn or rolled wire (from about 5.5 mm in diameter)
- hot-formed rods ( steel bars )
- forged bars (bar iron )
- Hollow boring bars
- Bright steel
- Ribbed and profiled concrete or prestressing steel , with predominantly round cross-section
- Hot-rolled profiles or shaped steel are products with a defined cross-section. They are sent as a stick.
- Rails as special shaped steel, manufactured up to 120 m in length
- Sheet pile walls as special long products that are required for fastening in civil engineering .
- welded profiles (e.g. box girder )
- Cold profiles
- rolled or welded tubes and hollow profiles
- other products ( open- die , drop forged , cast and powder metallurgical products such as rings, wheel tires or discs).
