Lars Schmidt (born September 13, 1965 ) is a former German soccer player and coach .

Career

Schmidt played in the youth teams of SG Rosenhöhe and Gemaa Tempelsee in Offenbach am Main . Senior career of SpVgg Bad Homburg in 1985 he was coached by Lothar Buchmann for the then in the second division playing Karlsruher SC obligated midfielders and defenders. In his first season he came on 33 missions, in the following season the KSC rose to the Bundesliga . After ten years and 265 league games (197 of them in the first division) Schmidt left the club and moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the second division. After his hometown club Kickers Offenbach was promoted from the Regionalliga Süd in 1999 , he signed Schmidt with an option to continue working together after his career ended. The club was relegated after one season, and Schmidt played a few more games in the Regionalliga Süd.

As a result, Schmidt was temporarily active as a coach of the first and second teams as well as the youth, and also as manager of the club. From 2005 to 2010 he was the coach of Kickers Obertshausen , and he was also the sports director of a soccer school. For the 2010/11 season Schmidt took over the TGM SV Jügesheim in the Association League Hessen South , became champions with the team straight away and was promoted to the Hessen League . However, the Jügesheimers not only waived promotion to the regional league, but also withdrew their team to the group league for financial reasons. So Schmidt was free for other coaching jobs. From the 2014/15 season he was a coach at SG Rot-Weiss Frankfurt as the successor to Benny Sachs, with whom the club missed promotion to the Hessen League on the last match day. Schmidt was released in May 2015. From 2015 to 2017 he trained the Sportfreunde Seligenstadt . At the beginning of 2018 he became the coach of the national league club Viktoria Urberach . For the 2019/20 season, Schmidt took over the Hessen division SC Hessen Dreieich as head coach.

Since July 2020 he has been the head coach of Sportfreunde Seligenstadt again .
