Lars Sjösten
Lars Sjösten (born May 7, 1941 in Oskarshamn ; † October 19, 2011 ) was a Swedish jazz pianist and composer .
Life
Sjösten often performed in the Gyllene Cirkeln jazz club in the 1960s , where he a. a. Jazz greats like Ben Webster , Art Farmer and the Swede Bernt Rosengren accompanied. Since 1971 he has been recording albums under his own name. He also played in the group of saxophonist Lars Gullin , with Dexter Gordon ( The Shadow of Your Smile ), Benny Bailey , Lee Konitz (whom he accompanied on the album "Dedicated to Lee" 1983 with his own octet), the Norwegian saxophonist Bjarne Nerem and Putte Wickman . He played his own compositions and those of Gullin with his own quartet (with baritone saxophonist Gunnar Bergsten , drummer Bo Söderberg and bassist Patrik Boman). 1990 was his album In Confidence , 1997, he was involved Rolf Ericson's album I Love You So .... with.
In 1997 he received the Lars Gullin Prize and in 2006 the Christer Bousted Prize. For the solo album "Select Notes" he received the Gyllene Skivan of the Orkesterjournals in 1981 , and also with his quartet in 1989 for Roots and Relations (Dragon).
