Lars Henry Olof Sjöström (born June 26, 1939 in Malmö ) is a former Swedish football player . The striker , who spent most of his career in the second division , scored 21 goals in 34 games for the Allsvenskan .

career

Sjöström started his career at Lidhult GoIF . From there he moved to IS Halmia in the second division in 1958 . With the club he was 1962 champion of Division 2 Västra Götaland without losing a season and was able to prevail in the subsequent promotion games thanks to the better goal difference compared to the same point clubs AIK , who rose to second in the first division, and Landskrona BoIS . In the first division, IS Halmia could not build on the successes and had to be relegated again with only one season win. Sjöström still knew how to convince and scored twelve goals in his 20 games this season, making him the club's best scorer and fifth-best in the league.

Sjöström left the relegated and initiated his move within Allsvenskan to the co-promoted AIK, as he worked for the state credit banks in Stockholm. Here he blended in well and scored eight goals in eleven games in his first season. Before the 1965 season , the club signed Owe Ohlsson from IFK Göteborg , who prevailed in the battle for the place in the storm. In his second year at AIK, Sjöström was initially only on the field in the first two games at the start of the season. On the last day of the match, the game against Degerfors IF was a farewell game, as Sjöström had announced his move to the second division side Halmstads BK . When he won 3-1, he was last on the list of goalscorers at AIK.

After four years at Halmstads Bk in the second division, he let his career end at the lower class clubs Hyltebruks IF , where he worked as player-coach, IF Leikin and Hallby IF . In 1975 he took over as a coach at Hallby IF for one season . Later he became involved in the management of the football department at IFK Malmö .

Sjöström's main job was for the credit banks and the later successors PK-Banken , Nordbanken and Nordea . He also worked briefly at Skanska in the late 1960s .
