Laura Ford (* 1961 in Cardiff , Wales ) is a British artist and sculptor .

Life

Ford grew up in a showman family. She studied from 1978 to 1982 at the School of Art and Design in Bath and then at the Cooper Union School of Art in New York City, where she received her bachelor's degree. She received her Masters degree in Art from the Chelsea School of Art in 1983 . She then traveled through India with her partner and fellow sculptor Andrew Sabin, where they taught art courses.

Exhibitions

Ford has shown her work in over 20 solo and so far (2011) over 45 group exhibitions. Her works are in collections at the Tate Gallery in London, Penguin Books and Prudential . The museums of Stoke-on-Trent , the Arts Council of Great Britain and the State Museum of Wales also display their sculptures. Ford represented Wales at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005. In 2009 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe , Blickachsen 7 could be seen in the exhibition of sculptures by renowned international sculptors . In 2012 a selection of her sculptures was on view in the Scheffel Gallery in Bad Homburg. The LWL-Industriemuseum then compared its exhibits with the work of Magdalena Abakanowicz . This exhibition closed with a performance by Claudius Reimann in the Textile Museum in Bocholt . In 2013, some of her works were displayed in front of the IG tower at Goethe University , Frankfurt am Main, as part of Blickachsen 9.
